Making the Most Out of Your Footer Design
Hi, my name is Chris Depa. I'm a Senior Designer at Straight North. I want to talk to you today about web design. More importantly, I want to talk to you about how to maximize the potential of your footer design. The footer is a universal element. That means it appears the same exact way on every single page on your website. Historically speaking, there wasn't much information on a footer. But now in the advent of search engine optimization, footers contain a lot more information. I'd like to tell you about three ways that you can maximize the potential of your footer design. The first and most pragmatic reason, to take the time to perfectly design the footer is to successfully contain and separate all of that information. If you don't, it could become an eyesore really fast. Second, it's a way to build brand. If you take a look at Straight North's site, you can see how we have effectively broken up a lot of information into manageable chunks. The imagery here also plays off our logo and our company name, which adds dimension to our identity. Third, the footer is a great place to detail to your audience exactly what your company does. Take our client Flexaco as an example. Their company creates flexible packaging solutions. I have illustrated some of the packaging types they create. Not only does the end-user get a better idea of what they do, but these packages also double as links to their social media outlets. Those are three ways that you can maximize the potential of your footer. Again, my name is Chris Depa. I'm a designer here at Straight North.
