Thanks to Straight North’s Co-Conversationalists

Posted by:

Comments are what distinguish blogs from other forms of online communication. At their best, comments are conversation contributions, so I’ve taken to thinking of Word Sell commenters as Straight North co-conversationalists. Thanks to all of you for making Word Sell a place to learn and share ideas about writing and marketing. We’ve had lots of new conversationalists stop by recently, which is very exciting.

I know it takes time for you to visit, read, and contribute to conversations. I really appreciate the time you take doing those things here, and hope you will let me know how to make Word Sell an even better place to spend time. THANK YOU ALL!

There’s been quite an international flavor to our conversations lately as well. I believe we have people on the list below from Israel, Scotland, Australia, Germany, England, and the U.S. Did I miss anyone??

  1. Hi Brad – thank you for mentioning me and linking to my site. Isn’t it brilliant that you have commenters from so many different countries? Who’d have dreamed that we’d all be able to connect so easily a couple of decades ago.

  2. One of the most fascinating things about the Internet is the ease with which we can exchange ideas, discussions and just a “howdy” every now and then with folks from around the world. It truly shrinks the globe, doesn’t it? I’m grateful to have been a part of the conversations here at Word Sell, Brad!

Cheers, and a tip o’ the hat to everyone!

  3. Cath, You said a mouthful! Earlier this year a great blogger friend of mine, Joanna Young, came to Chicago for SOBCon and we had a nice visit at our local bar & grill. Who would have believed it?

Robert, Looks like we all agree on this point! Not only shrinks the globe, but doesn’t blogging break down barriers as well?

  4. Brad,
I just discovered that I am in your list of Co-Conversationalists – thanks so much for that!
    And dear all,
I think blogging – as you do it, Brad, and you other people – makes us all global citizens, breaking down the barriers between regions, countries and continents. Here’s to you all!

  5. Not just breaks down barriers, but leaps them as well!

  6. Brad,
I’m honored to be part of your international community.

  7. Brad,

Thanks for the recognition and link! I always enjoy reading and commenting at Word Sell. It’s such a friendly, interesting, welcoming place!

  8. Meeting you in Geneva was a highlight indeed :-)

Funny that I’ve met you (and others in the US) but not Cath, who’s not a million miles from me, or Jackie who’s in the same city!

You host some great conversations here Brad, thanks for making us all feel so welcome.

PS Aren’t you glad now you put that recent comments widget in the sidebar? It’s the second thing I check when I get here – after your glittering content of course :-)

  9. Joanna, I can’t believe you and Jackie haven’t gotten together. If you do, please take some pics and put them on flickr. Yes, the recent comment widget was a winner. Thanks for the feedback. I guess I can spill the beans here – I’m getting a new template, hopefully next week. One reason for the change is so I can make recent comments even more visible.

  10. Very exciting! I can’t wait to see it

  11. Brad – you will see that Joanna and I appear in the pictures on the sidebar together though. It is crazy that we have not met in person – yet!

The reason that I visit and comment on your site is because it is always interesting and thought provoking. And i am honoured to be mentioned by you and included in such an illustrious list!

    Jackie

  12. Hi there, Glad you all stopped by to say hello!

  13. As per Lillie’s comment, glad to be part of your international community of readers and conversationalists!

    Cheers

    Andrew

  14. Thanks Brad! I claim Texas as my native country although my parents were based in Alabama when they had me. Since then I moved to Sterling, VA, but miss my native Lone-Star nation.
    -Sam

  15. @ Joanna – I know. I haven’t been to Edinburgh in ages and it’s my favourite city. But I’m hoping to go to SobCon next year, if we move to Canada, so hopefully I’ll see you there.

  16. I was noticed, yay!

I always feel pretty boring being from the U.S. I really should move someplace more exotic. Perhaps I could be your only commenter from Costa Rica… Hmm, warm weather, good surfing, beaches, yeah ;)

  17. Brad, thanks for putting this up.

Speaking on internationalizing- if you use the FireStats plugin, you can have the commenter’s country flag appear in the comment. I do that on my blog JobMob, here’s an example:

  18. Lindsay,

I don’t think that you should feel ‘boring’ being from America. Although I’ve never been to the States, I get the impression that your country is one of the most (if not the most) dynamic and vibrant countries in the world.

However, I will envy you if you achieve your dream of becoming Word Sell Inc’s first commentator from Costa Rica.

Truly a worthwhile goal to aim for!

    Cheers

    Andrew

  19. Brad, co-conversationalists is a wonderful term and truly describes what happens on a great blog like yours. I have certainly gained from the global interactions and diversity of opinions, and yes I’m old enough to still be awed by the power of the internet to bring us all together. I want to applaud and thank you for making this an inviting place where great conversation takes place. You are awesome!

  20. Karen, you’re making me blush.
Andrew, thank you for the pep talk. I’ve traveled abroad and though always fascinated, I enjoy coming home. Just the same, I think Lindsay has a point. At times I’ve thought of relocating to Easter Island. I wonder if they have high speed internet there. :)
Jacob, That is a cool plugin! I might have to give it a look after my new template goes live.

  21. Hi Brad,

Thanks so much for dropping by my site and leaving a comment. As you mentioned in this post, comments are conversations, online instead of in person.

    Don’t you just love them?

  22. Hi Brad, thanks for the link! I have only been blogging a short while and I’m still learning, so appreciate the positive reinforcement.

  23. Thanks for giving us something to talk about!

  24. Alina Popescu

Hi Brad, thanks so much for mentioning me and in such great company nonetheless! Discovering your blog has been a wonderful experience and I’m sure there’s more to discover with each post.

Keep up the great work you’ve been doing here!
