I know how vital a business blog plays in any business. Since it should have fresh content, the visitors of this blog is always updated. I remember having a coffee with my essay writers group one afternoon, we talked about the business blogs of certain websites and the role of the said blogs to the website. There are actually tons of advertising and marketing ideas that can be implemented in business blogs.

Fred, One reason blogs are so powerful as optimization tools is that if you write naturally about your products and services, you tend to incorporate key words quite naturally.

The word 'weaving' caught my eye. Seems like a nice way to deepen a prospects relationship - kind of a 'sales call without the sales call' approach. Your personal voice being updated throughout your sales proposition. Also, could be a nice, inexpensive way to implement something like Amazon's review feature. Good thoughts.

Barbara, Very helpful! I especially like -

"You can run contests about the most creative way someone has used your product."

Partly because I never heard that one before. I have several clients in the packaging business. The products can be rather bland, and you've given me some ideas about how to spice them up. Blogs can turn ordinary into extraordinary!

Gosh, where to start?

You can spotlight customers who use your product.

You can add free eclasses that showcase unique benefits to your products.

You can run contests about the most creative way someone has used your product.

You can perform community service in the name of your business and then have a local newspaper report on it...and include that in your blog.

You can create win-win relationships with complementary vendors/industries and write about each other....making sure to include direct links.

These were the first things off the top of me mind. Hope they're helpful!

Barbara

Hi Cath, Generally short is better, but your post today, which was quite long, is rather excellent! Sometimes it helps readers out to break down posts into a series, even if they are well written, though.

Bob, No blog, no business. That's what people may be saying in 2012.

Robert, MZM has the potential to be quite a nice business at that.

Hi Brad - My battery ran out when I'd almost finished typing my response.

I agree that bitesize chunks are best. My blogposts are way too long sometimes and I really should break some of them down. I try to use bullet points and subheadings to break them up a bit but shorter is easier to read.

Your idea of linking a product picture to a description is a good one.
