Hi Andrew, I feel your pain on that one. What could be worse than sacrificing your principles and annoying people all at the same time? I really don't know how people do it, but I have met a few who actually enjoy it.

When I was between jobs, I found temporary employment which, frankly speaking, was not a good fit for anybody - let alone myself.

I worked in a call centre for a mortgage brokerage firm. I was required to telephone prospective customers and obtain sensitive personal information about their current mortgage, salary, contact details and marital status.

The calls were made on a cold call basis during normal hours of dinner and family time. Needless to say - some conversations were not pleasant!

In the event the client did not wish to provide sensitive information to strangers over the telephone, I had to try to persuade them to provide such information. This was done using promises of savings on their mortgage of up to $11,000 or three years, promises which our firm had absolutely no basis whatsoever for believing we could actually deliver, as well as a range of other half truths and lies.

Needless to say, this position was not a good fit for me and I quit after two weeks. I am yet to meet anyone who is truly suitable for such a position.

Cheers
