Brad, or perhaps this medium attracts a certain personality type? :-) I grew up an only child and always attributed my independence to that. However, I always got high marks for "playing well with others" in Corporate so I can be a team player. I was a hands on when needed manager, opting not to micro manage but coach and guide. Excellent points and definitely something to ponder this week. Independence is good but you want to balance that with being able to work with others and ask for help.

Karen, I think you and Jeanne are revealing the blogger mentality. I feel the same way, although if I'm in a learning mode, I sure don't mind being managed closely.

I say leave me alone and let me work! :-) When I need guidance and/or road blocks removed I'll holler. Yes, that's what I tell myself every day. LOL!

Jeanne, I would imagine most bloggers share that view, otherwise you wouldn't love blogging so much!

Love it, Brad! Priceless!

Personally, I prefer a hands-off manager--within reason. I believe in employee empowerment, and since I'm fairly responsible, I tend to prefer greater autonomy. There are cases, however, where a manager's input and guidance are needed. After all, there's a reason they're called "managers."

Take care!
